As per recent news from the construction sector, L&T has received an EPC order from Saudi Arabia to work on the AMAALA Project. It is a considerable achievement for L&T because the region is promising massive development in the future.
The success of the AMAALA Project will uplift the reputation of the L&T construction in the region. The construction head of Larsen & Toubro said the company will be part of the Turnkey engineering, Construction contractor and procurements facility on various system-related jobs. It will support the renewable energy generation and utility establishment for the AMAALA project.
Saudi Arabia is working towards expansion of its habitable landscape to attract more tourists to the region. Development in the Red Sea region would help the country leverage the ongoing sea traffic and get more tourists to visit the land. As the place will be in the hot zone of the sea routes, tourists from Western countries would find it more relaxing and enjoyable.
AMAALA is an ultra-luxury destination developed for Prince Mohammed bin Salman as a natural reserve near the coast of the Arabian Sea. The area spans around 4155 square kilometres. Once the project opens for visitors, it will have 25 hotels and 900 plus luxury residential villas with apartments and estate homes on the coast offering a beautiful sea view.
These luxurious properties will be available at high-end retail prices, including fine dining facilities, a wellness centre, and many recreational facilities. It will have everything tourists desire on their beach vacation on the remote island of Saudi Arabia.
Three major players who will play a vital role in the construction of the AMAALA project, including the Consortium of UAE clean energy powerhouse, Masdar and French Electricity utility EDF, are working together to complete the dream project as early as possible. They have signed the concession agreement for the fully integrated utility project. Larson and Toubro will have the EPC agreement with the Sponsors Viz EDF and Masdar.
The project aims to go with the modern-day need for sustainable solutions to conserve the soil and produce energy through renewable sources. It is going to be a regenerative environment approach to develop a landscape that provides a habitat for human life. The project awarded to L&T will have an off-grid renewable energy system. It comprises a 250 MWp solar PV plant. Additionally, it has a 700 MWh battery energy storage system.
The scope for building power systems will also have biofuel-based internal combustion engines. Saudi Arabia is ensuring the energy sources are divided into multiple resources so the region is not dependent on a single energy source. Three gas-insulated substations and high-voltage transmission lines will be installed to transfer the energy safely.
A pure drinking water system will be built so there will be no need to transport the water. The construction involves 37 MLD seawater reverse osmosis plants. On top of that, 6 MLD Sewage treatment plants will be built to produce clean water and take away the waste products. Moreover, the marine works will also be built, including intake and outfall, with the tank farms and potable water networks. Treating sewage water treatment plants will maintain the region.

Saudi Arabia invests heavily in the development of the region. There are many dream projects of the Saudi Arabian prince that are ongoing. More India-based construction companies would be able to work on Saudi Arabia land. As more companies are looking to connect with the Arab nations, the companies in India will get the chance to work on these massive projects in the future.
Saudi Prince is looking for the top construction companies that can complete their dream project as quickly as possible. Because the dependency on fuel will not last long. Advancements in electric vehicles have produced shock waves in the Middle East because their economy is entirely dependent on oil sales.
Once the demand drops, the Arab nations will face significant challenges to sustain their economy. Many kingdoms will fail, and riots will begin in the region. The Prince have predicted the future, thus regenerating the landscape with modern technology. Making tourism an alternative revenue source to control the economy.
