Car Safety Features You Need to Know About

Car Safety Features You Need to Know About
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Modern cars have new safety features that many might be unaware of. Most of the time, these features are hidden behind the screen, which makes it difficult for a non-technical person to find them.

The automotive industry has been going through a significant transformation for decades. Digitalization of the car is giving extra safety to the passengers. Tech merged with traditional car facilities is producing amazing experiences for drivers.

Car brands promote safety features exclusively through various marketing campaigns, but generally, you may notice a few top safety features of the cars. Many of you might only reach some of the effective safety features installed on your system once you drive your vehicle for a year.

In the early days, seat belts were prominently marketed as the first layer of safety. All the development happened around seat belts because it keeps you in a safe position when the car encounters an accident.

Today, car companies have several other opportunities to improve the safety of the drivers and the passengers behind. With performance improvement and technology integration, car safety features are enhanced to meet modern requirements. Car brands also put safety as the primary element when they promote their cars through advertisements.

Why should you know about car safety features?

The passenger’s safety is the ultimate goal for every vehicle on the road. It keeps you safe, as well as people who are on the streets. New car safety features significantly decrease the chances of an accident. Car safety could prevent a collision, and you will have better control over the car.

Experience drivers with an awareness of the different car safety features will have complete control over their driving. At cruising speed, when a sudden unfortunate event occurs around you, the drivers will have split seconds to react. A quick decision is needed to put the control of your car. A decision taken during a sudden accident decides your future.

Full braking, antilock brakes, and tire skit control are some features you can enjoy with the car safety features. Also, an automated braking system triggers when there is a sudden accident happens in front of you.

A new collision avoidance system on the car protects you from getting hit by another vehicle on the road. Sensors mounted on your car track the car’s movement and push you aside when another vehicle has a close encounter with your vehicle.

Sensors’ reaction time is quicker than the driver’s; hence, a collision avoidance system protects the passengers on board during a difficult time.

List of car safety features

1) Airbags

The government encourages owners to have airbags in their cars. However, car brands keep the airbags as optional features, but getting a car with the airbags is recommended. Airbags are installed on the front seat. The driver seats have airbags installed in the steering.
When a collision happens with your car, the airbags are blown immediately, providing cushion to your head. The reaction time of the airbags is in milliseconds; thus, it will immediately trigger and protect you from getting your head hit by the steering.

2) Antilock Brakes

Antilock braking systems have been made mandatory in many countries. Sensors are installed in your car wheels that monitor the car’s speed, grip, and various other performance factors. Any unusual activities are immediately captured by the sensors and indicated on the screen so the driver is aware of the situation.

Besides that, sensors are programmed to communicate with the controls, so if the driver does not respond automatic braking system triggers to slow down the car and avoid a collision. The antilock brake system uses digital data to ensure the car’s health is intact and everything is working smoothly.

3) Backup Camera

All top-end cars come with a backup camera. The rare pointing camera gives you a wide-angle view of the things behind your vehicle.
The backup camera will be helpful when you want to return the car. It is generally located at the rear bumper, near the license plate, or on the trunk lid to give you a perfect viewing angle.

4) Electronic Stability Control

An automated four-wheel braking system controls your car’s movement on the road. With the various safety features, you will also have the electronic stability control system inbuilt into your vehicle. The primary task of the electronic stability control is to put you on a steady path.
The idea behind the ESC control is to avoid sudden movement of the car while you are at high speed. Immediate turns due to a mistake could collide your vehicle with nearby objects or cars. Thus, Electronic stability control ensures your car steering in the direction you decide to move.

In Summary
Use all the car features to make you’re driving safer. Industry experts will think out integrated features in your car to provide more safety to the passengers. Consciously use it while going, making driving safer for you and your family.
